RECENSIONE: STING – “Duets”
Non mi sono mai piaciute le cosiddette operazioni “mutuo” dei super big della musica. Operazioni commerciali dove vengono raggruppate canzoni storiche o classici della loro storia musicale rivestite e riarrangiate in salse diverse.
In questo caso Sting pubblica un disco che raccoglie i suoi duetti che in questi anni ha realizzato oltre che proporre una collaborazione inedita Englishman/African in New York con l’artista africano Shirazee.
Un disco prodotto da Guénaël “GG” Geay & Martin Kierszenbaum e masterizzato da Gene Grimaldi al Oasis Mastering di Los Angeles, celebra le unioni artistiche collezionate durante la lunga carriera di Sting, conosciuto da sempre come un esploratore musicale, un pioniere di suoni e collaborazioni.
L’album contiene i duetti che STING ha maggiormente amato come quelli con Mary J. Blige, Herbie Hancock, Eric Clapton, Annie Lennox, Charles Aznavour, Mylène Farmer, Shaggy, Melody Gardot, Gashi e molti altri.
Tra i brani del disco anche il singolo con ZUCCHERO “September” e la collaborazione con Herbie Hanckock “My Funny Valentine”, brano registrato originariamente per il film giapponese Ashura del 2015.
