É online il video di Can’t Stop Christmas, il nuovo singolo di Robbie Williams contenuto nella versione deluxe dell’album “The Christmas Present” .
L’ironico videoclip, diretto da Dan Massie traduce in immagini lo spirito ironico della canzone che riflette su un 2020 senza precedenti con cenni a Facetime e Zoom, calzini e disinfettanti per le mani come regali di Natale perfetti, shopping online e distanziamento sociale: “Babbo Natale è sulla sua slitta, ma ora è a due metri di distanza.” Il brano è reso ancora più interessante da una melodia allegra contraddistinta dal tintinnio dei campanelli tipico di questo periodo. Robbie immagina il Natale 2020 per tutti noi.
Il video, come la canzone, sostituisce la paura con la speranza, inizia con una scena tipicamente festosa con Robbie a casa seduto accanto a un fuoco accceso e all’albero di Natale. L’artista accende la TV e si trasforma nel Primo Ministro inglese Boris Johnson. In piedi dietro un podio, tiene un briefing a Downing Street, affiancato dai suoi consulenti scientifici, prima di essere raggiunto da una “Theresa May” danzante.

Il nuovo singolo vede Robbie lavorare ancora una volta con i produttori Guy Chambers e Richard Flack, ha già raggiunto la Top50 dell’airplay radiofonico in Italia, ed è contenuto della versione deluxe dell’album acclamato dalla critica ‘The Christmas Present’, il suo primo disco natalizio. Il doppio album è caratterizzato da un mix tra canzoni originali e speciali cover natalizie in duetto con guest star: Rod Stewart, Bryan Adams, Jamie Cullum, e Tyson Fury.
L’album, il 13esimo in studio dell’artista, lo scorso dicembre ha debuttato al #1 della classifica nel Regno Unito, e questo gli ha permesso di eguagliare il record di Elvis Presley come artista solista con il maggior numero di album alla #1.
