Madonna e Taylor Swift sono le artiste più nominate ai Video Music Awards 2026, con un divario minimo ma significativo: 11 candidature per Madonna, 9 per Taylor Swift.
La cerimonia si terrà domenica 27 settembre a Los Angeles, vede Madonna che guida la corsa grazie a Confessions II – The Film, candidato nella categoria più ambita, Video of the Year. Nella stessa sezione entra anche Taylor Swift con “The Fate of Ophelia”, tratto da Life of a Showgirl. Completano la cinquina Bruno Mars con “I Just Might”, Gener8ion e Yung Lean con “Storm”, Ariana Grande con “Hate That I Made You Love Me” e Sabrina Carpenter con “Tears”.
La presenza di Madonna nelle nomination assume un peso particolare: con 11 candidature, la cantante consolida una delle traiettorie più longeve nella storia dei VMA, mentre Swift conferma il proprio dominio sull’attuale grammatica del videoclip pop.
Tra gli altri nomi da segnalare ci sono PinkPantheress e Zara Larsson, entrambe con cinque nomination. Le due artiste concorrono anche insieme per Song of the Year con il remix di “Stateside”. Una candidatura arriva invece per i Geese, nominati nella categoria Best Alternative con “Taxes”.
L’edizione 2026 presenta però alcune modifiche nella struttura delle categorie. Secondo quanto riportato da Billboard, quest’anno non risultano tra le sezioni annunciate Best Rock, Best Afrobeats, Best Pop Artist, Push Performance of the Year, Best Album, Video for Good, Best Long-form Video, Best Group e Song of the Summer.
